Application for Education Membership

Criteria & Categories

Click here to apply and summit your application online.

Membership in the NCATC requires a commitment to share information with other institutions and to participate in Coalition activities. All members are strongly urged to register for the annual conference.

There are four categories of membership:

Full Member: Institutions of higher education having established, operating ATC’s are eligible for Full Membership. As well as having general voting privileges in the Coalition, Full members are eligible to serve on the Coalition’s Board of Directors. Applicants requesting this category of membership will be asked to provide evidence* of their ATC’s level of activity. The annual fee is $600.

Note: NCATC has special pricing for multi-college districts desiring to have more than three of its colleges hold NCATC membership status.

Affiliate Member: Institutions of higher education that are affiliated with a Full Center Member in good standing that have an interest and/or affiliation with advanced technology training are eligible for Affiliate Membership in the Coalition. The Full Center must assume full financial responsibility for the Affiliate Member(s) and all anniversary dates will be the same. Affiliate Members do NOT have voting privileges in the Coalition. Affiliate Members must be recommended by their affiliate Full Center member and be Board approved. The annual fee is $200.

Note: Affiliate Members can request an upgrade to Full Member through the process defined under Full Member above.

Associate Member: Institutions of higher education that have an interest in or are in the process of developing an ATC are eligible for Associate Membership in the Coalition. Associate members have voting privileges in the Coalition. The annual fee is $600.

*Note: NCATC has special pricing for multi-college districts desiring to have more than three of its colleges hold NCATC membership status. Associate members can request an upgrade to Full member through the process defined under Full Member above.

System-Centric Membership: Each organization within the system must meet the same criteria and categories above--a combination of Full Center and Associate is allowed--and coordinates invoicing through the system office. For discounted pricing schedule, please refer to the NCATC System-Centric Pricing Matrix at bottom of page.

Criteria for Full Membership In the NCATC

An Advanced Technology Center operation, ATC, is a commitment of persons and resources in the effort to reach, enhance, and add value to business and industry. It is not necessarily a physical facility, but is often thought of and referred to as a structure. Beyond bricks and mortar, an ATC operation is a conscious effort to bring together the resources of the college or institution in workforce development, economic development and business and industry outreach. Its organizational model usually reflects the needs of the local community and by its nature is involved in the application of new and leading edge technology.

Full Membership in the NCATC is reserved for those organizations that fulfill the role of industry and technical training and service through a major commitment of resources, facilities and focused efforts. In essence, the Full Membership category is reserved for those institutions with established, operating Advanced Technology Centers.

To help guide the Membership Committee in its decision making process, the following is a list of indicators to which each applicant should respond.

PLEASE SUBMIT FLYERS, BROCHURES, NEWSPAPER ARTICLES, OR OTHER INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR CENTER THAT MIGHT PROVE HELPFUL TO THE MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE.

Examples in any or all of the following six areas will assist the evaluation of the application.

   1. Evidence of an ATC role and one that demonstrates a commitment to the philosophy of industry and technical training and service.

   2. Evidence of a commitment of the governing and administrative structures of the institution.

   3. Evidence of a commitment of resources from the institution to the ATC.     4. Evidence of a commitment to the kind of programming that distinguishes ATCs from other post-secondary programs.

   5. Evidence of a pro-active program promotion and delivery.

   6. Evidence of a commitment to providing benefits and services to industry and education beyond training.

Membership in the NCATC requires a commitment to share information with other institutions and to participate in Coalition activities. All members are urged to register for the annual NCATC conference.

 * After receipt and review of your application by the NCATC Board of Directors, you will be notified of status, and if accepted, invoiced per the category of membership.
